The National Quincentennial Committee (NQC), together with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts’ National Committee on Art Galleries, spearheads the Quincentennial Art Competition. This is in commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Philippine part in the first circumnavigation of the world, the Victory at Mactan, and other related events, collectively known as the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines (2021 QCP).

In celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Victory at Mactan, the National Quincentennial Committee (NQC), through the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and the National Museum of the Philippines, is launching the Lapulapu National Monument Design Competition. The winning design will serve as the prototype of the new Lapulapu National Monument which will be enshrined at the atrium of the Lapulapu Memorial Shrine and Museum at Lapu-Lapu City.
