The logo features the documented eight-ray sun-like patik (Visayan tattoo) motif in the 16th century Boxer Codex from The Lilly Library of the Indiana University, side by side with the eight-ray compass rose typically to a 16th-century European map. The two symbolize contact, intersection, and encounter.

The blue motif follows the color of the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines representing water, which symbolizes the maritime ancestors of the Filipinos and the first circumnavigation of the planet 500 years ago.
