Closing Session: Asserting a Filipino Point of View

Late colonial (1899-1946) and post-colonial (1946-present) witnessed the maturity of Philippine society in using politically-correct terminologies such as “discovery of the Philippines” and “pagans” (in reference to our ancestors’ pre-Hispanic faith). This also trickles down to the issues of misrepresentation and inclusivity of various cultural communities which themselves hold vestiges of our ancestors’ wisdom and culture. This session explores the sociological and political developments and impacts of changing and accommodating voice in shaping the Filipino nation.
